Digital Marketing Agency – Head of PPC – Remote within UK

The Role in Brief

We are looking for an inspiring, commercially sharp Head of PPC to spearhead our paid media department. This is a pivotal leadership role within the agency. You will be responsible for the strategic direction of our entire paid portfolio (spanning Google Ads, Bing, Meta, and emerging programmatic channels), managing a talented team of remote specialists, and acting as the senior strategic touchpoint for our tier-one clients.

This isn’t a role for a theorist. You will actively guide team methodology, pitch to high-value prospects, and ensure our agency remains at the absolute cutting edge of automation, first-party data strategies, and tracking infrastructure.

Your Core Responsibilities

Department Leadership & Mentorship

  • Grow the Talent: Lead, mentor, and upskill a remote team of Paid Media Managers and Executives. Foster a culture of continuous learning, testing, and accountability.

  • Process & Frameworks: Define and standardize agency-wide PPC frameworks, naming conventions, optimization schedules, and reporting templates to ensure flawless delivery.

  • Resource Management: Monitor capacity across the department, ensuring optimal account distribution and forecasting future hiring needs as the agency scales.

Strategic Oversight & Innovation

  • Macro Strategy: Review and elevate client strategies, ensuring accounts are structured for performance, utilizing advanced bidding strategies, and maximizing value from client budgets.

  • Alpha/Beta Testing: Keep the agency ahead of the curve by securing access to platform betas (Google, Meta) and pioneering new ad tech, automation script deployments, and AI-driven workflows.

  • Privacy & Attribution: Lead the agency’s transition through privacy-first tracking landscapes, championing server-side tagging, Enhanced Conversions, and robust attribution modeling.

Client & Commercial Growth

  • Senior Client Counsel: Act as the high-level strategic advisor for key clients, translating complex performance data into clear, commercially minded business updates.

  • Pitch Winning: Partner with the Sales and Strategy teams during new business pitches, audit prospective client accounts, and articulate our agency’s PPC proposition to secure high-value contract wins.

What We Are Looking For

  • Agency Pedigree: 6+ years of experience in Paid Media, with at least 2+ years leading a team within a UK fast-paced digital agency environment.

  • Multichannel Mastery: Deep, expert-level knowledge of the Google Ads ecosystem (Search, PMax, Shopping, YouTube) alongside a strong operational grasp of Paid Social (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok).

  • Commercial Acumen: You don’t just look at CTR and ROAS—you talk to clients about blended CPA, MER (Marketing Efficiency Ratio), and business profitability.

  • UK Market Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of the UK digital landscape, consumer behavior, and regional marketing nuances across both Lead Gen and E-commerce verticals.

  • Inspiring Communicator: Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to command a room (or a Zoom call) and distill complex data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
